Sandro Fuga

Grandson of the painter Luigi Nono , Fuga completed his studies in piano , organ and composition at the "Giuseppe Verdi" conservatory in Turin starting in 1919 where he was taught by Luigi Perrachio , Franco Alfano and Giorgio Federico Ghedini in composition, Ulisse Matthey in organ , Luigi Gallino piano . From 1933 he undertook his didactic commitment at the Turin Conservatory, where he taught piano and composition, with the only exception of the two-year period 1951/1952 in which he held the chair of composition at the Milan Conservatory ; in 1966 he was appointed director of the Turin Conservatory. He was a member of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome and of the Luigi Cherubini National Academy in Florence . He was an author performed quite fluently in the Italian symphonic and chamber music programming of the second half of the twentieth century , furthermore his music received numerous awards in international competitions: in 1952 his Toccata for piano and orchestra was awarded at the Symphonic Composition Competition "Città di Trieste " , later in 1958 his composition Last Letters from Stalingrad (for narrator and orchestra ) was awarded the Marzotto Prize . Later, in 1991 the Sonata n. 3 for violinand piano received the "Premio Psacaropulo" from the Turin music critics. His compositions are published by Ricordi ( Milan ), Curci ( Milan ), Boccaccini and Spada ( Rome ) and Suvini Zerboni ( Milan ), Pizzicato (Udine). Text Source: Wikipedia
