Alessandro Stradella (1639-1682) was an Italian composer and singer of the Baroque period. He was born in Rome, Italy, and is best known for his contributions to vocal music, particularly opera, oratorios, and chamber cantatas. Stradella's compositions were noted for their lyrical melodies and dramatic expressiveness. One of his most famous works is the oratorio "San Giovanni Battista," which is considered one of the earliest and finest examples of this genre.
